Visit of the city of Bordeaux
Since campsite on the Bassin d’Arcachon domain La Forge, you will take less than an hour to reach Bordeaux by car taking the A660 and A63 motorways. Known worldwide for its wines and vineyards (especially those of Saint-Emilion), the prefecture of Gironde has a fabulous cultural heritage. The port of the Moon, where the Garonne passes, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The heritage of this city of art and history is so rich that you will not be able to see everything in a few days. Remember, however, to include the Cité du Vin, the Saint-André Cathedral and the Musée d’Aquitaine in your program of visits. Walk on the Miroir d’Eau on the magnificent Place de la Bourse, the most photographed place in Bordeaux. Navigate peacefully on the Garonne to admire the monuments and buildings built on the banks from a different angle. Enter a traditional restaurant to savor local specialties (steak, veal liver or Bordeaux crayfish) accompanied by a local wine, then relax in the public garden. Your bike ride along the Garonne has made you want to eat organic? Let yourself be enchanted by the vegetarian burgers at Darwin’s General Store, a former military barracks converted into an alternative cultural space that covers an area of 20,000 m2.
You will understand, for your next stay in Gironde, you can not miss the wonderful city of Bordeaux…
